For ideas on how to become even more self-sufficient, Path To Freedom has an amazing website on how they have raised 6000 pounds of food in a plot that seems smaller than yours. They have the "100 foot diet" challenge going on now, worth checking out.

Here's to more local food!

Danielle,
Thanks! That is a good thing to plan for that I might not think of in the spring. I don't know why, but only half on the comments posted are going to my email and as a blogger you know how we live for comments! Luckily I have learned to check my comments page occasionally!

Hi Ginger,

Great posts today! I especially enjoyed this post, and am planning to write about Victory Gardens, too. Thanks for the great resource!

With the wet snow we've gotten in MA this past week, I've seen several collapsed hoop houses (including a shelter for sheep and goats- sad!) among my neighbors. Be sure to plan a way to shed all of that weight.

As someone who has *thought* about gardening and farming more than she's had her hands in the dirt, I find a lot of inspiration on Fresh Ginger!

Nice posting,
Growing herbs for decoration or for cooking has become a popular indoor hobby. Growing herbs in a container indoors is a perfect solution for those who want to grow year round. Creating an indoor herb garden is quite an easy task as herbs are inexpensive plants that are easy to maintain and are undemanding. An indoor herb garden can be termed as an introductory course for any beginner to the art of gardening.
